High Peak Game Estate is located in the high country of the South Island of New Zealand. The property includes a variety of habitat for game, including tussock-clad hill country, native beech forest and matagouri shrub. In addition to the option of lodging on the game estate itself, there's a full range of lodgings within an hour or so of the game estate, from award-winning golf resorts to exclusive guesthouses, luxury lodges, local inns and high-country homesteads. The property consists of 4,000 acres of prime hunting country. Native grasslands, forest-filled valleys and clear mountain streams provide the ideal habitat for New Zealand's wild animals. Rising to over 3,000 feet in altitude with a 1500 foot vertical rise, High Peak is well serviced with four-wheel drive tracks. |
|
The property includes a traditional hunting bush hut out near the furthest reaches of the game estate. The hut is equipped with hot water, a shower and separate quarters for the guides. It's very similar to the type of lodgings that would have been utilized by the original deer hunters in New Zealand. There's a huge stone fireplace, where you can enjoy a drink at the end of a good day's hunting. |

The game estate is bordered by High Peak Station to the South, the Selwyn River to the East and native bush-clad alpine ranges to the North and West. This property offers one of the best cross-sections of South Island hunting land in a completely private, secluded area. |

You won't have to "rough it" the whole time you're hunting at High Peak Game Estate. Enjoy a whisky by the fireplace at the Homestead on High Peak Game Estate. |

Although you can get around the property via four-wheel drive, most hunting is accomplished on foot and thus a reasonable standard of fitness is required. The majority of the game estate is surrounded by conservation land, set against the backdrop of the Big Ben and Torlesse ranges. You'll experience a genuine sense of isolation and seclusion as well as a spectacular backdrop for your hunting photos. |
