Rare white bull tahr shot by poachers

White bull tahr at Glenmore, South Island of New Zealand

White bull tahr at Glenmore, South Island of New Zealand

White himalayan bull tahr are very rare, occurring at a rate of about 1 in 10,000 animals. This animal was shot by a poacher, trespassing on the owner’s property in the Glenmore area on the South Island, and left to rot, unfortunately.

Thanks to Don Cameron of Pure NZ Hunting for the photo.

  1. Don,

That’s a big shame, I filmed a white bull on Glenmore for two years running. Looking at his horns that white bull looks to be in his 6th year, which would make it the same one I filmed.

    What a waste!
